Business Unit Director

he Business Unit Director role includes the following responsibilities but is not limited to:

Budget Control
• Achieving set individual and teams sales targets
• Securing new business and identifying new business opportunities
• Monitoring the profitability of  the accounts you are managing;
• Managing project budgets and campaign costs
• Have a good financial understanding.
• Driving Project teams to reach annual sales targets

Client Management
• Responsibility for all day-to-day communication with our clients including the taking of briefs, discussing strategy and future opportunities and general client communication
• Attending client meetings and developing creative solutions
• Being familiar with the nature of clients' products, business culture and competition and understanding the possibility of changes to these;
• Applying knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service to our clients
• Liaising with, and acting as the link between, Projects teams and the Clients by maintaining regular contact with both, ensuring that communication flows effectively;

Project Management
• Overseeing and managing project teams where needed on all aspects of client’s Advertising, Marketing and eventing needs, from planning to delivery and post event or campaign wrap up.
• Managing projects where needed including concept, turn key delivery and execution
• Working with the Account Directors, account managers to brief media, creative and project staff, and assist with the formulation of marketing strategies;
• Research new concepts and prepare presentations, project justification and business cases
• Managing multiple projects and personnel.
• Suggesting areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.
• Planning and discussing the products, services and advertising requirements of each particular client;
• Arranging and attending meetings and reporting to Exco on key decisions
• Negotiating with clients and project teams about the details of campaigns;
• Monitoring the effectiveness of campaigns;
• Overseeing the status of all marketing and advertising campaigns of teams;

Relationship Building
• Becoming a trusted advisors for your project teams and to the clients where needed
• Taking ownership of accounts and leading by example, being involved/proactive in resolving issues
• Developing lasting relationships with senior client personnel and using PenQuin senior management as required to cement relationships at a senior level as required
• Market strategists
• Communications strategy
• Forward Planning

Team Management
• Taking primary responsibility for your team’s performance by acting as the final supervisory checkpoint for all project/Finance related documents, and ensuring timely issuing of reports.
• Exhibiting the ability to anticipate and solve problems.
• Generating enthusiasm for and commitment to our client’s business among team members.
• Ensuring the highest level of professionalism is maintained on assigned accounts, and working to meet and exceed the Client expectations.
• Training team members through both formal and informal training programs, mentoring etc.
• Mentoring those with less experience through informal channels.
• Overseeing and participating in teams development opportunities above and beyond required training.
• Ensuring team members are motivated and supporting all teams to achieve their clients objectives

Skills Required: 5-8 years experience in the Advertising and Marketing industry

he successful candidate will need to have:

• Vast Experience in delivering presentations to high level clients.
• Ability to research new concepts and prepare presentations, project justification and business cases
• A tertiary qualification preferably from an advertising and marketing background.
• Excellent PC skills
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience in managing advertising projects including concept, turn key delivery and execution.
• Experience in developing long term client advertising and marketing strategies.
• Experience in developing creative communication and Brand strategies.
• Strong understanding of media, from strategies, planning and implementation position.
• Experience in Above the Line creative production.
• Skills in planning , monitoring client annual budgets and forecasts
• Skills in managing big advertising project budgets, preparing for project reviews
• Skills in project management, ensuring all time and quality deadlines are met and producing post project reports
• Ability to manage 3 to 4 teams
• Ability to Train junior team members through both formal and informal training programs, mentoring etc.

Personal Skills and Attributes:

The ability to manage stress, be deadline and time line driven and client focused.  The successful candidate must be assertive, be able to communicate clearly and concisely and be willing to take ownership of projects.  You are not required to have all the answers but must be wiling to find them.  Attention to detail is essential.
